Information and communication technology has become the driver of modern economies worldwide. It is also one of the key tools that businesses have at their disposal to ensure differentiated offerings. In this talk, Prof Ogunbona will provide an overview of some of the contemporary trends in ICT and share insights into how the fast pace of innovation in ICT can be turned into competitive advantage.
Prof Ogunbona was appointed Dean of Informatics, University of Wollongong in 2009. He was foundation Manager of the Digital Media Collection and Management Lab, Motorola Labs in Sydney, Australia, where he was part of the team that worked on the JPEG2000 standardisation and research projects including multimedia content management for broadband applications. Apart from having published over 45 journal and conference papers, he has co-authored several patent disclosures and currently has four patents filed in the US.
