Title:

The Master of Your Fate”

Synopsis:

Inspired by the poem, Invictus, by William E. Henley, the

last lines in Henley’s poem, Invictus, reads:

“I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”

Entrepreneurship, like life, is filled with

challenges and the choice is whether to give in and

succumb or conquer them and come out victorious.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, Nazrin Hassan returned to the Cradle Investment Programme in October 2007 upon appointment by the Ministry of Finance. As the face of Cradle, he inspires budding entrepreneurs to greater heights, and oversees all activities of the organisation. Closely involved in strategising more ways to reach potential groundbreaking ideas, Nazrin also works closely with the Ministry of Finance to best manage Cradle’s grants.Starting his career as a Corporate Finance Executive in CIMB, he later left to begin his stint in entrepreneurship within the ZAR Group, which included an ICT arm which he headed, called Zarnet DotCom Sdn Bhd. In 2001, Nazrin clinched third place in the Venture 2001 National Business Plan Competition, which is the first nationwide business plan competition for high technology ventures.

Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle), an agency under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia is the organisation that manages the Cradle Investment Programme. The Ministry of Finance had allocated RM100 million to Cradle for this programme since it began in 2003. An additional RM50 million was recently added to the allocation for the 2011-2012 period, under the 10th Malaysia Plan.

Cradle now runs three programmes, the Cradle Investment Programme for funding development and commercialisation of technological ideas and companies, the Coach and Grow Programme, a market driven programme to train entrepreneurs, and Angel Tax Incentive, to support the angel investment growth in Malaysia.
